Hispanics get an assist from Voces

Once called the Latino/Hispanic Community Project, an organization formed in 2007 and began operations in May 2008 to improve the health, quality of life and leadership of the Latinos and Hispanics in the Battle Creek area.   

Today, it is called Voces -- voices in Spanish. The organization recently observed its Grand Inauguration Celebration. The food was good, the children were laughing and music drifted over an outdoor tent, the Battle Creek Enquirer reports.

"This celebration is taking place to help expose and educate the community about all of the resources that Voces has to offer," said Kate Flores, the executive director of the non-profit agency. "We want more people in the community to know that we are here and what kinds of services we provide."
