FireKeepers Hotel opening expected to bring 300 jobs

In the fall of 2012 the FireKeepers Hotel and Event Center is scheduled to open its doors. It's expected to take 300 more employees to keep it running.

When it's done, and reports are that it's being completed on schedule, the 292,000-square-foot hotel will have 242 guest rooms, a pool and fitness center, a new restaurant and an event center large enough to accommodate up to 2,000 people.

Tribe members seeking employment are invited to a job fair specifically designed to staff the hotel and event center. It takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 14 at the Pine Creek Community Center. Those interested in a career at FireKeepers Casino and Hotel may submit an updated resume and apply for the positions of interest on site.

Hotel General Manager Kathy George will open the event and then interview tables will be set up at which tribe members can meet with human resource recruiters and the general manager.

Tribal citizens, spouses of Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi citizens and members of other federally recognized Indian Tribes will be given preference in hiring.

Tribal leaders report installation of interior plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems in addition to drywall finishing in the bingo addition and warehouse took place this spring. The hotel tower guest rooms have gone up as has exterior glass wall installation.
