Job search news: Two job fairs upcoming in March

Two opportunities for job seekers to meet with prospective employers are coming up in March.

The first is the Kalamazoo Career Fair on the campus of Kalamazoo Valley Community College in Texas Township.

Some 120 employers will be at the event, which is free, and open to the public. The career fair beings at 2 p.m. and continues till 6 p.m., Wednesday. March 19.

Borgess Health, Parker Hannifin, Stryker Instrument and Medical Operations, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and Denso Manufacturing are among those who will host booths with information about employment opportunities.

Those who attend the career fair should bring copies of their resumes, dress for success, and be prepared to meet with potential employers.

The purpose of this collaboration is to give student and community job seekers the opportunity to meet face-to-face with area employers. Last year’s revamped event drew more than 1,800 job seekers, up from 800 the previous year.

A list of participating employers, video interviews with area employers, tips for job seekers and other details are also available on the Career Fair website

The second career fair will be March 20 and March 21 at the Inn at Harbor Shores. More than 140 jobs are available at the resort in Benton Harbor. Available jobs include those for bartenders, bussers, dishwashers, front desk associates, housekeepers, laundry attendants, prep cooks, retail store cashiers and waitstaff.

Applicants must be able to pass a background screening and bring a resume with them to the event.

Interviews will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 20, and Friday, March 21, at 499 W. Main Street, Benton Harbor. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Preference will be given to pre-screened applicants who apply ahead of time on the website here.
