KzooKids website offers parents a way to know what's going on

Raising children can sometimes seem like a neverending search for ways to keep them entertained and if you're lucky teach them something at the same time.

One of the latest entries into the local digital scene, KZOOkids.com, can help parents find the family-friendly activities and information they need.

With summer just around the corner, KZOOkids.com is working on gathering information to help Kalamazoo parents plan their summer. The writers for the site will be researching what's happening and providing parents with guides such as: Summer Parades, Summer Reading Programs, Where To Pick Berries, and more.

KZOOkids.com launched in September 2013 by Jill Piwko, a stay-at-home mom who believed there was a need for information that could be shared with parents.

At the heart of KZOOkids.com is a Commumity Event Calendar that features events from many venues across the region. Events at local libraries, local businesses, the Kalamazoo Nature Center, Air Zoo, the Kalamazoo Art Council and many more can be found in the calendar.

Organizations can also add their events to the calendar.

"We want our Event Calendar at KZOOkids.com to be a resource for the busy parent looking for things to do with their kids," says Piwko. "We have many great activities and events in our community and we want to make it easy for parents and caregivers to find these activities."

KZOOkids.com’s active blog also includes information that can be used by the Kalamazoo parent.

The KZOOkids Blog includes information such as:

• Guides--Preschools, Farmers’ Markets, Summer Camps, Indoor Play Places, Kalamazoo Area Parks, Weekend Picks, and many more.

•
Reviews of local activities and venues.

•
Tips for the local parents.

• And popular giveaways.

The site is a sister site of grkids.com in Grand Rapids.

"Our response from parents, community organizations, and local business has been great so far," says Piwko. "We’ve made so many great connections with people that are so passionate about Kalamazoo and are excited to share the great things about our community."
